Exciting News for 2025: DAV’s Full-Length Nutcracker at Capital One Hall!


Dance Academy of Virginia is thrilled to announce our third annual Nutcracker production—our biggest yet! This year marks a major milestone as we bring a traditional, full-length performance to the main stage at Capital One Hall. This is an incredible opportunity for our dancers to shine in a professional venue, and we can't wait to share the magic with our community.


Key Dates to Remember:

  • Auditions: Sunday, June 1

    • 12:15 - 1:15pm Ages 5-7

    • 2:15 - 3:15pm Ages 8-10

    • 3:30 - 4:30pm Ages 11-14

    • Academy D & Advanced Academy I 4:30 - 5:15pm Ages 15 & up, Advanced Academy III/IV

  • Casting Announced: Week of June 9

  • Acceptance Deadline: Monday, June 16

  • Tickets on Sale: Friday, August 29

  • Rehearsals Begin: September 5-7

  • Performances: Saturday, December 13 at 2pm & 7pm(Tech/Dress rehearsal: Friday, December 12)



Audition Info:

  • Open to rising 1st graders and older

  • No audition fee

  • Wear ballet attire (or what’s available—no stress!)

  • Participation is contingent on class attendance and rehearsal commitment


Participation Requirements:

  • Levels I-III: One ballet class during both summer sessions + school year

  • Levels IV-Teen: Two ballet classes during both summer sessions + school year

  • Participation Fee: $125


Rehearsals & Attendance:

  • Held at McLean or Del Ray locations on weekends

  • Attendance is crucial (max two absences per role)

  • Full-cast run-throughs are mandatory: Nov 15, 22 & Dec 6



Costumes & Dress Code:

  • All costumes provided by DAV

  • Standard ballet attire for rehearsals; role-specific styles for performance

  • Detailed costume guidelines will be shared in the fall


Tickets & Theatre Info:

  • No ticket limit this year!

  • All ticket sales managed via Ticketmaster

  • Group sales available for Girl Scouts & community groups

  • Performances at Capital One Hall, Tysons, VA
