Meet Ms.Vicky!

 

Victoria Ortiz was born and raised in Bronx, NY, where she began her dance training throughout her life, attending many performing art schools: Bronx Charter School for the Arts, Bronx Dance Academy, and thereafter, Talent Unlimited High School in Manhattan, NY. Throughout her high school years, she attended vigorous companies to versatile her dance technique and received her training from Ballet Hispánico, where she received training from Cecilia Cereras, Caridad Martinez, Rodney Hamilton, Michelle Manzanales, Nicole Duffy, Amelia Bernand, Ana Lourdes Novoa, was an intern, teacher assistant, and Nuestro Futuro Recipient. She graduated from Talent Unlimited High School for Performing Arts in Manhattan, NY. Victoria has performed at the Apollo Theatre, The Martha Graham School, Viacom, and Ballet Hispánicos Carnaval Gala at The Plaza Hotel, honoring and meeting Latin music superstars Emilio & Gloria Estefan. At 18, Victoria attended George Mason University as a dance major and holds a BFA in Dance. During her college years, she received training from Susan Shields, Roger Jeffery, Linda Miller, Karen Reedy, Christina Robinson, Daniel Joyce, Shaun Boyl-Darcy, Elizabeth Price, Jim Leopore, and many others. During her time, she was fortunate to have many performance opportunities with Christopher D’Ambiose and be a part of the choreographic journeys of Christina Robson and Lawrence Jackson. She also had the chance to create her pieces “ Escape” and “Resilience”, performed at the Harris Theatre in Fairfax, Virginia. Not only is Vicky a dancer, but she is well interested in marketing, designs websites, endures in community engagement, and teaching to inspire young children.


What is one piece of advice for our DAV Students? Always come to class with a goal prepared, as we are here to help you achieve and mark a step every day to reach it! Go dancer’s!
