
Learn a little bit more about our Founder and CEO, Katherine Horrigan.
Katherine Horrigan is a former professional dancer with a distinguished career.
Originally from Ohio, she performed with renowned New York City companies including Ailey II, Elisa Monte Dance, Jessica Lang Dance, Francesca Harper Project, and Mexico City's Tania Perez-Salas Compania de Danza. Her experience also includes guest seasons with Le Grand Ballet du Montreal and a recent return to the stage at the Kennedy Center. With over 20 years in the dance field as a performer, teacher, and choreographer, Katherine has toured the world, graced international stages, and taught at universities.

During the pandemic, Katherine founded the Dance Academy of Virginia, growing it in just four years from two studio rooms to two locations (McLean and Del Ray) encompassing seven studios. Combining her passion for dance and entrepreneurship, Katherine is committed to empowering her team and fostering a positive environment. Her vision is to help dancers succeed in life by developing valuable skills, forging lasting friendships, and becoming their best selves.

As a mother, Katherine understands the demands on busy families and strives to create programs where both dancers and their families can thrive. She is grateful for her talented team and dedicated to providing career growth opportunities for her dance professionals and educators.
