Meet Ms. Savannah!
All Programs Instructor
Savannah Jeffries hails from Centreville, VA, and is currently based in Alexandria, VA. She graduated from Cornell University, where she studied Mathematics and minored in Spanish. Savannah’s teaching history is rich and diverse; during her college years, she was actively involved with the Ithaca Chapter of Ballet & Books, a national nonprofit that combines dance education with literacy mentorship. Over four years, she worked as a dance teacher, served as the dance director for two years, and eventually took on the role of chapter director, overseeing both the dance and literacy programs. Additionally, she ran her own neighborhood dance camp during the summers. This marks her second year teaching at DAV.
Â
Savannah began her dance journey at age three at Centreville Dance Academy and spent nine years with Centreville Dance Theatre, where she competed and performed extensively. While at Cornell, she was a member of the Cornell University Dance Team, where she performed at various events and competed at the UDA College Nationals in Division I pom, achieving the milestone of leading the team to be the first Ivy League dance team to make finals at Nationals during her senior year. She also performed and choreographed with the Rise Dance Group and On Tap Dance Troupe, as well as participated in a university dance department production featuring modern dance.
Â
This year, Savannah will be present at both locations and teaches a variety of programs. In her classes, dancers can expect to challenge themselves, have fun, and discover the confidence, self-expression, and true joy that dance offers. Her piece of advice as the year begins is to embrace every moment in class as an opportunity to learn, highlighting that the growth experienced through dance extends beyond artistry and positively impacts personal development in all aspects of life.
