Meet Ms. Maryanne!
A passionate and dedicated team member of both the Management Team and the Teaching Department at DAV! Her 31 years of dance experience began at the age of 3, and she transitioned into teaching at Ravel Dance Studio in Reston, VA, in 2012 after graduating from college. At Ravel, she taught level II through Advanced Ballet for six years. In 2018, Ms. Maryanne moved to Richmond, VA, where she taught at J'adore Dance Studio and served as Assistant Studio Director until 2022, when she returned to Northern Virginia and joined DAV.
Her performance history is a blend of concert and competition dance. She has performed in The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and other ballets with Shenandoah University's Academy of the Arts. She won a National Title in high school and was a finalist in the Washington Post Music and Dance Scholarship Awards. At Radford University, where she majored in Contemporary Dance, Ms. Maryanne performed in Radford's Fall Dance Fest, Spring Concert, An Evening of Ballet, The Nutcracker, and numerous student works.
After graduating, Ms. Maryanne shifted her focus from performing to teaching and choreography, which she finds far more fulfilling. In addition to her degree in Contemporary Dance Performance from Radford University, she also holds a degree in Paralegal Studies. She worked as a criminal defense and family law paralegal in Loudoun, Fairfax, and Prince William Counties from 2012 to 2018 and Chesterfield County from 2018 to 2020.
In 2020, during the pandemic, Ms. Maryanne made a bold decision to fully commit to her passion for dance, a choice she hasn't regretted for a moment!
