Meet Ms. Allison!
All Programs Instructor
Allison is originally from Hermosa Beach, California, and is currently based in Washington, D.C. She attended American University, where she double majored in Dance and American Studies. Her teaching journey began three years ago in Los Angeles, where she taught dancers ages 5 to 13 in a variety of styles. Since then, she has continued to grow as an educator and discovered a true passion for working with young dancers. While at American University, she also had the opportunity to teach an open class as part of the Kennedy Center’s Dance Sanctuaries program.
As a freelance professional dancer, Allison performs regularly throughout the DMV area with artists such as Amber Lucia Chabus, Ronya-Lee Anderson, and Sarah Beth Oppenheim. Her performance credits include appearances at venues like Dance Place and The Kennedy Center. During her time with the American University Dance Company, she performed in works by a wide range of choreographers, including Britta Joy Peterson, Orange Grove Dance, Erin Foreman Murray, Ronya-Lee Anderson, Chitra Subramanian, and Mufutau Yusuf. She also played key roles in student productions, often serving as a rehearsal assistant and creative thought partner.
This year, Allison will be teaching at both locations. In her classes, dancers can expect to work hard and have fun. Her advice for the year ahead: “Always watch your fellow dancers! You can learn so much from each other—and have so much fun in the process!”
