Alexis Berentzen is originally from Ashburn, Virginia and is currently based in Winchester. She is pursuing a degree in Dance and Artificial Intelligence at Shenandoah University, combining her passion for the arts with an interest in emerging technology. Alexis has been involved in dance education for many years, assisting classes at competitive dance studios throughout high school and teaching her own Jazz, Ballet, and Tap classes for the nonprofit homeschool organization Branches. She also served as Mary Robare’s ballet assistant for Musical Theater Ballet and most recently worked as a dance instructor for Metro Movement LLC during the summer of 2025.

As a dancer, Alexis trained extensively in the competitive dance world throughout middle and high school. She was a performance member of Next Level Dance Company and served as a Performance Ambassador at South Coast Conservatory. At Shenandoah University, she has continued to expand her artistry through participation in faculty, student, and guest artist dance concerts.

This year, Alexis will be teaching in the Summer Program at both locations. In her classes, dancers can expect to build strong foundations in technique, performance, and creative exploration. She encourages students to approach dance with curiosity, emphasizing growth, effort, and thoughtful engagement over perfection. Her advice for the year ahead is simple but powerful: Be curious and stay kind. Cheer on others, and trust that your hard work will carry you through the year.
